Rodrigo Romero-Flores will give an artist talk to coincide with his new immersive installation Collateral Landscapes on Friday 4th July 1-2pm.

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Production Lab, a reinventing of our first floor exhibition space at DAS during Late Night Art July. This event will also showcase new work, Collateral Landscapes by Rodrigo Romero-Flores.

This workshop introduces Google Tilt Brush/Open Brush as VR painting applications, covering installation, setup, and examples of 3D art that explore composition, perspective, colour, form, and lighting, including a demo of tools and features through screen mirroring and discussion of the pros and cons of 3D drawing.

Aiden Brady will deliver a workshop artist talk relating to his current exhibition, What can you see, from over the brow? in partnership with Belfast Photo Festival.

XR Lab members are invited to a tour of Queen's University Media Lab.

Abra Dickson White will give a presentation of her project funded through her ACNI Digital Evolution Award, delving into the world of Unreal Engine and Virtual Production, discussing the development of prototypes of immersive/interactive artworks for use with future technologies.

In this session, Ami Clarke will continue the conversation on her work about the algae in Lough Neagh and about the wider issues around technology, the environment, and ‘sensing’ the lough.

In this workshop, participants will collaboratively explore, hack and develop creative approaches to generative AI image-making tools in the context of the city and its imaginaries.

Join artists and collaborators Fiona Gordon and Roibí O Rua in developing a MXNIFESTO as they guide participants in constructing an artist manifesto from a Cyberfeminist lens, with abstract and dadaist approaches to writing and composing text.

Our Late Night Art April will be a participatory event led by Lauren Moffatt, our current artist-in-residence awarded through the S+T+ARTS4Water II Challenge and STARTS Residency programme.

During this world-building workshop that forms the foundation of Lauren’s project, participants are invited to contribute a prompt to generate a coral species as well as the note that will be sung by that species in the coral reef.

You are invited to attend The Arts Council of Northern Ireland showcase of work by Northern Ireland’s leading artists working at the interface of cutting-edge technology and the arts.

A monthly opportunity for members to share their current projects and practice for feedback.

This month, our presentations will be led by Lauren Moffat, who was awarded the S+T+ARTS4Water II Challenge and STARTS Residency.

This workshop will show artists how to gather assets into a Unity project, how to assemble assets into a cinematic timeline, how to apply animation to character assets within the timeline and how to utilise Unity’s Real-Time render to export the timeline as a 1080p and 360 video. 

The XR Lab returns to its weekly sessions with a discussion on its direction for 2025, from 11am - 4pm.
